Joan Allen and Barbera Kemp with Lawrence CassidyWe’ve had lots of visitors to the Exhibition and many people have shared memories and stories with us. You can read some of the memories on the Memory Book page and we’ve added some of the information about the photographs to our Feature Photos page.

Today we spoke to Barbera Kemp and Joan Allen, who met at New Windsor Primary school, went to Clarendon School together, and are still fond friends today. They shared oral histories and lovely memories about domestic science at Clarendon school. School isn’t the only thing they have in common; Joans father was from Canada and he worked on Salford Docks as a crane driver and Barbera’s father was a loader on the docks.  Barbera told us her favourite subject at school was drama and she didn’t actually want to leave school when she had to because she loved it so much!
