About the Dance Halls Category

In the 1950s and 60s dance halls were a lively cultural venue where young people learned to dance and take part in the many dance styles of the time. Chiltons and Finnigans, both in Cheetham Hill, were very popular dance halls in the area.

The post war era brought jazz to the dance halls, and we’ve featured a number of live bands, as well as fantastic publicity shots of a winning ballroom dance couple.
