The Salford and Cheetham Hill in Focus project has won the prestigious Frank Mullineux Local History Award for its work promoting the history of Salford.

The award, a ceramic owl, was presented to the Retracing Salford team by Salford and Eccles MP Rebecca Long-Bailey and Don Ranger of the Salford Local History Forum, at the Salford Histories Festival at Fletcher Hall in Swinton.

The award was made for the quality of photographs, that can be seen at exhibitions and on the website, and for community engagement. Accepting the award on behalf of the team, Lawrence Cassidy said: “We are very honoured to receive this award. It was a real team effort and I would like to thank Gail Faragher, Martin Bush and everyone else involved, especially the volunteers who put so much work into the restoration of the images.”
